John C. Robinson is the sixth generation of his family to work at their 155-year-old textile business, Robinson Manufacturing. But, now, Robinson is the last in his family to work in manufacturing. In April the company closed its doors to manufacturing and shifted its business to property development.
“I want to fight for Maine business and working people so other families and small businesses won’t have to suffer the same fate,” he said.
His top priorities would be tax relief and job creation. If the property tax cap passes, Robinson would not support it as written, but would be a strong advocate for broad-based tax reform.
He does not support allowing municipalities to create their own local option sales tax as a way to relieve property taxes.
He doesn’t see education funding as an area that can be cut, though, while health care costs continue to climb.
