FARMINGTON – A warrant will be filed for the arrest of a Solon man who failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment in Franklin County Superior Court on Friday afternoon, according to Assistant District Attorney James Andrews.

Paul Hemond, 25, turned himself in the after day his vehicle struck a 48-year-old New Sharon man who was running on Industry Road.

Edward Ferreira was struck by a northbound vehicle at around 7 p.m. June 20.

According to police, Hemond admitted leaving the scene, saying he was scared. He was indicted in September on charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

Ferreira, SAD 9 director of special education, was training for a marathon at the time. He fractured his pelvis and dislocated a knee in the accident.
