ALBANY, Vt. (AP) – A horse that got loose and ran into a moving vehicle had to be put down because of its injuries, state police said.

State police reported Sunday that on Wednesday, Brad Peavey of Albany was driving a Dodge Caravan on the town’s Main Street, also known as Vermont Route 14, when the accident occurred.

Police say two horses had gotten loose and one of them, a 4-year-old Morgan gelding, ran into the road and struck the side of Peavey’s vehicle toward the front.

Neither Peavey nor a passenger in the Caravan was injured.

The van had damage to its right passenger door area and windshield.
