CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A local man has been sentenced to 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison for assaulting his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son.

William Mussey, 36 was convicted in Merrimack Superior Court in July of grabbing and dragging the boy by his genitals. The boy required surgery for his injuries.

Two die after vehicle flips

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Two men died early Sunday morning in after their vehicle flipped on an Interstate 93 overpass and fell to the road below.

According to state police, Jason Snyder, 27, was driving and Ian MacLaren, 22, was a passenger in a Jeep Cherokee when the Jeep hit the back of a box truck and veered out of control.

The Jeep went across the right lane near the Candia Road overpass. It struck the guardrail, causing the vehicle to vault into the air, police said. It landed on its roof in the middle of Candia Road

MacLaren, from Londonderry, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Snyder, who was from Manchester, was taken to Elliott Hospital where he later died.

The driver of the box truck was not injured.

Police say alcohol and speed may have contributed to the accident.

Stafford man facing new charges

DEERFIELD, N.H. (AP) – A Stafford man with a history of drunken driving convictions will be arraigned Monday on new charges after an incident this weekend.

Deerfield police say James Brouillard, 41, drove his pickup truck into the brush off Route 43 on Friday night and then ran from police. He was caught after a short chase, police said.

Brouillard is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and with operating a motor vehicle after being certified as a habitual offender. Brouillard could be convicted of a felony because he had five prior drunken driving convictions in the last six years, police said.

Police say they found an open container of beer and an open bottle of vodka in the truck’s cab. Brouillard faces additional charges after police say he smashed a shelf at the police station and tried to punch a hole in the wall following his arrest.

Two charged in connection with armed robbery

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – Police have charged two men in connection with an armed robbery at a gas station earlier this month.

Comfordt R. Alston, 26, of Nashua, and Ulysses McMillan, 18, of Hudson, face felony robbery charges. According to police, Alston walked into the Hess Express on East Hollis Street on Oct. 20 brandishing a knife and wearing a mask over his face. He demanded money while McMillan stood outside the store acting as a lookout, police said.

Gun club works on safety concerns

MERRIMACK, N.H.(AP) – A local gun club is making changes after a neighboring business reported finding stray bullets.

The Nashua Fish and Game Association said it is closing one pistol range and raising the level of a berm to catch bullets around another.

According to police, there have been four incidents this year where bullets were found or witnesses reported hearing them in the air. All the incidents were reported at Campers Inn, a new business that opened in January just north of the gun club’s property.

Police can’t prove the rounds came from the Fish and Game Club but they say they are working with the club to address safety concerns.

Police seek collision witnesses

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – Police are seeking witnesses to a collision involving a city fire truck and a car.

According to police, the fire engine was responding to a call from the Pheasant Mall around 8 p.m. Saturday. The engine stopped to make a right turn and was struck by a compact car coming from the opposite direction, police said.

Four people were in the car and two were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. Police are trying to determine whether the traffic light was red or green for the oncoming car.
