RANGELEY – A Freeport man was arrested after he was found with stolen items in Rangeley on Thursday.

According to Lt. Niles Yeaton of the Franklin County sheriff’s office, Wendall F. Cressey, 42, was arrested on violation of bail conditions after Deputy Heidi Gould heard on the police radio a description of stolen items that matched those she had seen in a vehicle she had just stopped in Strong for speeding. She had issued a summons to Cressey at 12:24 a.m. on Route 4 in Strong, after which she heard the report of a theft of several wheels and tires from a location on Town Farm Road in Farmington at 1:05 a.m.

Using the license plate number, police tracked down Cressey two hours later to a location on Dallas Hill in Rangeley, where Deputy Stephen Charles arrested him and took him to the Franklin County Jail.
