This is a response and a rebuttal to a letter written by Moe Bolduc that was printed March 8. Mr. Bolduc was responding to a letter I had written, which was published Feb. 27. My letter was concerning a salary cap in Major League Baseball, and how I felt the New York Yankees were manipulating the league with their enormous payroll. My point was illustrated at the time when the Yankees acquired shortstop Alex Rodriguez. Mr. Bolduc, obviously a Yankees fan, stated in his rebuttal that I was just disgruntled that the Red Sox had failed and the Yankees prevailed.

Now, I sit here with a mile-wide grin spread across my face. Not only were the New York Yankees responsible for giving up the greatest comeback in sports history, it was given to them at the hands of the Boston Red Sox.

Furthermore, the Red Sox erased 86 years of heartbreak, winning the World Series.

I congratulate every member of the Boston Red Sox. I especially want to congratulate owner John Henry, general manager Theo Epstein, manager Terry Francona and all of the players.

I also would like to thank them for bringing me, and virtually all of New England, such great pleasure and elation. This is something all Red Sox fans have waited 86 years for and finally it is here.

Go Sox!
