RUMFORD – An executive session is scheduled after Thursday night’s selectmen’s meeting to discuss what Town Manager Robert Welch called two serious issues with the River Valley Growth Council.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Municipal Building.
Welch declined to define the growth council issues. Invited to the closed session are Joseph Derouche, the growth council board’s president; Scott Christiansen, the economic developer and executive director of the council; and Rumford’s representatives to the growth council board, Dick Lovejoy, Selectman Jim Peterson, Selectman Jim Rinaldo, Matt Kaubris, Dieter Kreckel and Greg Buccina. Welch said any other growth council board member may also attend, if desired.
Among the agenda items for the open portion of the meeting is a discussion of the rental fee charged to groups that use the Municipal Auditorium. The town currently charges $100 for use of the historic hall. A church group that has been using it once a week for a couple of years has asked for a reduction.
Other agenda items include a discussion on the possible purchase of plaques for historic buildings, awarding of the bid for the annual town report, and discussion or action on requests for a taxi cab license, a liquor license, an amusement permit, and an innholder’s and victualer’s license.
A second closed session is scheduled to discuss a potential business venture.
