AUBURN – Constance Cote won a third term on the Androscoggin County Commission.
The veteran Democrat took 63 percent of the votes to win the 2nd District Commission seat, defeating challenger Robert Mennealy, 10,135 to 6,060.
Mennealy, an independent, won his bid Tuesday for re-election to the Auburn City Council.
The county’s 2nd District includes the towns of Poland, Mechanic Falls, Minot, Durham and Auburn.
Cote, a former legislator who served for 12 years in the Maine House, promised to continue cost-saving efforts to regionalize services and other new ways of doing the county’s business.
“I’m ecstatic,” Cote said late Tuesday. She wished to thank voters and reaffirmed herself to cost-cutting measures.
The county began its budget on Tuesday.
