RUMFORD – At nearly midnight, Republican David Duguay was narrowly edging out incumbent Democrat Oxford County Commissioner Fredric Kennard, a 10-year veteran, to serve on the Oxford County Commission representing District 2.

Duguay, from Byron, is making a first-time run for a four-year term on the County Commission.

With 10 out of 16 towns in District 2 reporting, Duguay has received 4.417 votes to Kennard’s 3,963 votes.

Towns not yet reporting are Andover, Canton, Hartford, Peru, Roxbury and Sumner.

In Kennard’s hometown of Rumford, Duguay received 1,682 votes to Kennard’s 1,640. In Byron, Duguay took 69 votes to Kennard’s 11.

Kennard narrowly defeated Duguay in Mexico, 764-722, while Duguay took Dixfield, 700-586.

Kennard also took Gilead, 54-44 and Newry 118-108, while Duguay took Lincoln and Magalloway plantations, Upton and Milton Township.
