Fryeburg voters carried Roberta “Bobbie” Muse to victory Tuesday in a hard-fought race for House District 94.

Muse, who stepped in the race after the August death of her husband, incumbent Republican Kevin Muse, bested Brownfield Democrat Marlee Turner by 678 votes, for a final vote tally of 2,594 for Muse and 1,916 for Turner.

Turner won in the smaller towns of Brownfield, Hiram and Porter, but Muse carried Fryeburg by a vote of 1,242 to 458.

“It’s been a very fast race. I’ve literally been running for office in the past six to eight weeks,” Muse said Wednesday. “I’m very pleased with the outcome.”

Muse, a teacher at Fryeburg Academy and mother of four children, plans to take a sabbatical from teaching during the Legislature’s next session in January.

“I think that’s only fair, to myself and to the kids.”
