MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Antawn Jamison scored 34 points Wednesday night to help the Washington Wizards hand the Memphis Grizzlies a 103-91 loss in the first regular-season game at the new FedExForum.

Juan Dixon had 28 points and Jarvis Hayes added 20 points and nine rebounds for the Wizards, who outscored Memphis 32-11 in the third quarter to take control.

Laron Profit added 11 points for Washington, which had just eight players in uniform due to injuries and suspensions.

Bonzi Wells led Memphis with 19 points, while Pau Gasol added 17 points and nine rebounds. Stromile Swift had 15 points and eight rebounds.

Brian Cardinal, who signed as a free agent in the offseason, had 13 points for the Grizzlies.

Memphis held a 52-44 advantage at halftime after leading by as many as 19 points, but the Wizards erased that lead with a 14-6 run, capped by Profit’s 3-pointer, to tie the score at 58-all midway through the third period.

Washington closed the period with a 13-1 run to take a 76-63 lead. The Wizards held a double-digit lead throughout the final period.

NOTES: The Wizards were without Brendan Haywood, Larry Hughes, Anthony Peeler and Gilbert Arenas. Haywood and Hughes were suspended for a fight during the preseason. Arenas was out for one game because of a handgun violation, and Peeler was suspended for an elbow jab during last season’s playoffs. … Memphis’ Lorenzen Wright was also suspended for fighting during the preseason. … NBA Commissioner David Stern and Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley welcomed the fans during a brief ceremony marking the first regular season game in the Grizzlies’ new $250-million arena.
