Rep. Phil Cressey, R-Baldwin, will serve his third term in the Maine House of Representatives after capturing a majority vote on Tuesday in District 99.

Cressey beat challenger Gordon Fuller Sr., a Democrat, by 845 votes. He took in 2,972 votes compared to Fuller’s 2,127.

Cressey said during his campaign that he was unhappy with state spending and the government’s inertia in reforming Maine’s tax structure. He said tax reform is his highest priority.

“I received a higher percentage of the vote this time than I did in my two previous runs, so obviously the people in my district agree with my platform,” Cressey said of his win.

Health insurance reform and an effort to curb state spending will be two of the areas Cressey concentrates on as he continues to serve in the House.

He is a production worker at Poland Spring Water Co.
