Republican candidate Wright Pinkham Sr. of Lexington Township prevailed in the House District 88 race, beating Democratic candidate Paul L. Tessier of Rockwood Township by more than 800 votes Tuesday.
Pinkham easily took the vote in Anson, 741 to Tessier’s 436.
He is well-known in Anson and lives the nearby township, said Town Clerk Bob Worthley Thursday, which he said were reasons for Pinkham’s success there.
In Coplin Plantation, voters narrowly elected Tessier over Pinkham, 45 to 42. Tessier’s win was equally close in Carrabassett Valley, where he gained 228 votes to Pinkham’s 205.
In the end, though, Pinkham took 58 percent of the district’s vote with 2,834. Tessier received 2,033.
