RUMFORD – Dozens of paintings, collages, sculptures and photographs, along with handmade Christmas ornaments, go on display Friday as part of Pennacook Art Center’s fifth display of the year.
Titled “Thrifty Treasures: Affordable Art for the Holidays,” all artworks are priced $200 and less, some as little as $2.50.
Among the treasures are drawings of kittens; acrylic paintings of loons, bears and flowers; and photographs of many local subjects.
The open house reception begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday when gallery-goers will have a chance to meet some of the artists and view a local access television program, “Meet the Artists,” hosted by Maureen Goudreau. The one-hour talk show will be played continuously until 8:30 p.m.
The art center is on Congress Street and opened in June. Since then, the gallery has had monthly exhibits, including one devoted to Peru watercolor artist June Dragoon called “Our Own Backyard.” It featured scenes and artists from the local area and a display featuring fall colors.
Gallery manager Betsey Bell said the show will be on display into December. Also opening on the first Friday of December will be the gallery’s first featured photography exhibit.
