PORTLAND – What happens when Martians land on Sesame Street? What do all Earthlings have in common? These are just two questions that will be answered when Sesame Street Live brings its “Out of This World!” tour to the Cumberland County Civic Center Dec. 9 to 12. Tickets for the seven shows will go on sale Monday, Nov. 8.

“Sesame Street” premiered Nov. 10, 1969 on public television, breaking new ground by combining fun and laughter with good old-fashioned learning. Today the program is a global force, touching the lives of children in more than 120 countries.

During the live “Out of This World!” show, an average sunny day becomes extraordinary when Terry, “Sesame Street’s” fix-it girl, and her Muppet friends teach their intergalactic visitors all about Earth. Grover also shares some of his recent global adventures. Other characters in “Out of This World!” are Big Bird, Elmo, Zoe, Bert, Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, Rosita, Baby Bear, Telly Monster, Count von Count, Cookie Monster, Prairie Dawn, Grundgetta, Honker and Yup 1 & Yup 2.
