GREENWOOD – Veterans, along with their families and guests, will gather Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Jackson-Silver American Legion Post in Locke Mills as a part of Veterans Day ceremonies.
The program will begin at 9 a.m. at post headquarters on Gore Road. Opening remarks are by post Commander Dan Grover, followed by prayers offered by post Chaplain Rodney Hanscom.
Patriotic music performed by Bethel’s Community Band the Mahoosuc Music Makers, as well as a tribute to veterans living and dead by the American Legion Auxiliary, are parts of the program.
Firefighters from Woodstock and Greenwood and representatives from local Boy, Cub and Girl Scout troops, will be present.
The color guard from Jackson-Silver American Legion Post will present the colors, and the post’s firing squad will offer a 20-gun salute to close the program.
Refreshments will be served while veterans and guests mingle to express their thoughts privately and remember their friends and loved ones who have died in action over the years.
The public welcome to attend.
