FARMINGTON – Cleopatra Mathis, winner of the Jane Kenyon Award for Outstanding Poetry, will be the featured author this month in the University of Maine at Farmington’s Visiting Writers Series. Mathis will read from her most recent works, “Who Will Tip the Boatman” and “White Sea,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, in Thomas Auditorium in UMF’s Ricker Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Mathis’ work has been widely published and has received many awards, including two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. She is the director of the creative writing program at Dartmouth College.

A book-signing will be held immediately after the reading. The Visiting Writers Series is sponsored by the UMF Creative Writing Program and the UMF Writers Guild.
