ROCKLAND – Marjorie G. Lufkin, 101, of Rockland, died Nov. 11, at Knox Center for Long Term Care.

Born in Phillips, March 16, 1903, she was the daughter of Marshall H. and Aura P. (Cushman) Davenport.

She graduated from Phillips High School and later attended Farmington Normal School and then graduated from Farmington State Teachers College.

She married Sherwood D. Gould June 8, 1924, in Mexico. She taught grade school in Phillips for 30 years, retiring in 1971.

She was a member of the Phillips Senior Citizens, the Maine Teachers Assoc., the Phillips Order of the Eastern Star, the National Education Assoc., the Phillips Methodist Women and a lifetime member of the Phillips United Methodist Church.

She played and taught the piano for many years and was affiliated with the music at the Methodist Church. Her other loves were her home and the surrounding mountains.

She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Lufkin and her husband, Arthur, of Camden; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Sherwood in 1983.
