FARMINGTON – Downtown Farmington businesses and merchants and the United Way are joining for a “Day of Giving” on Saturday, Nov. 13, in downtown Farmington.

This year, for the first time, participating downtown merchants will donate a portion of their day’s sales, or give a one-time donation, to the local United Way.

Each supporting business will have a bright red heart in its window, indictating its support for the United Way.

Purchases made at participating businesses will help the United Way as the business donates a portion of their sales.

Participating businesses include: Sugarwood Gallery, B&B Scrapbooking, Richard’s Florist, Mickey’s Hallmark, Farmington Thrift Shop, Narrow Guage Cinema, the Granary Brew Pub and Restaurant, Java Joe’s, Up Front & Pleasant Gourmet, Awards Shoppe, Devaney Doak & Garrett Booksellers, Homestead Bakery, Farmington Medical Supply, Everyday Music, Mainestone Jewelry, Howard’s Rexall, Dunkin’ Donuts, Trask Jewelers, Farmington House of Pizza, Twice Told Tales, Turner Tender Cuts, Deborah Auch Designs, Pine Tree Cellular, Calico Patch and the Empty Hangar.

Shoppers are welcome to stop by the United Way office at 221 Broadway, Suite 2, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday to visit and enjoy a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
