RANGELEY – Police have charged three teenagers with burglary in connection with a break-in at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School weekend in which more than $5,000 in computer equipment was taken.
The bulk of the items stolen were found on the doorstep of the school Monday in trash bags, but some items were recovered in the last few days, Rangeley police Officer Mary-Ellen Michaud said.
Police received information that helped to solve the case, Michaud said.
Each of the three Rangeley 15-year-olds faces one count of burglary, she said. Two were charged Wednesday and the other Thursday, she said.
The juveniles were turned over to the custody of their parents, Michaud said. She said she plans to send the case to a juvenile case worker.
The items that police didn’t initially know were missing and that were returned most recently are three Palm Pilots, a DVD burner, a digital camera and two sets of speakers, Michaud said.
Left outside the school Monday were six Palm Pilots, speakers, a cordless phone with an answering machine, a Universal Serial Bus hub, a download port, FireWire hardware, a 17-inch flat-screen monitor and a digital projector, Michaud said.
