PORTLAND (AP) – Boyd Gordon scored 2:55 into the third period, snapping a 2-2 tie, and the Portland Pirates went on to beat the Lowell Lock Monsters 4-2 Friday in the American Hockey League.

Jakub Klepis scored a goal and added two assists for the Pirates, while Trent Whitfield and Steve Eminger each notched a pair of assists.

Lowell’s loss came after a three-game winning streak.

The Lock Monsters (6-4-1-0) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period when Craig MacDonald scored at 3:04 and Mike Zigomanis connected at 7:10.

The Pirates (7-4-1-1) tied it in the second as Brian Sutherby netted his first goal of the season at 3:03 and Klepis tallied his third with six seconds remaining.

After Gordon broke the tie early in the third period, Graham Mink made it 4-2 on the power play at 14:13.

Portland goalie Justin Eddy stopped 23 shots on goal, while loser Cam Ward recorded 25 saves.
