PORTLAND (AP) – Zach Parise collected the game-winning goal in the post-overtime shootout as the Albany River Rats beat the Portland Pirates 3-2 on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 at the start of the third period, the River Rats (6-6-1-1) scored twice to tie the Pirates (7-4-1-2) in regulation.

After a scoreless overtime, Albany beat the Pirates in the deciding five-man shootout when Parise and Ivan Khomutov beat Portland goalie Justin Eddy. Albany goalie Scott Clemmensen stopped all four shots he faced .

The Pirates took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission after Jonas Johansson scored 2:43 into the first period and Jakub Klepis tallied his fourth of the season.

The River Rats made it 2-1 when Ryan Murphy scored 6:15 into the third and Pascal Rheaume tied it at 14:40.
