DURHAM, N.H. (AP) – Scientists at the University of New Hampshire are getting big bucks to work on a small scale.

UNH and two other universities will share a $12.4 million National Science Foundation grant to develop nanotechnologies — extremely tiny tools and machines that can be used in medicine and computers.

A nano is one-billionth of a meter.

The scientists hope to produce tools to help build a new type of super computer memory chip and tiny sensors that could be implanted in the human body or blood stream for early disease detection.
