MEXICO – The Region 9 board may choose a new director for the vocational school when it meets Tuesday.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room of the school on River Road.
Board Chairman Norman Clanton said the eight-person Screening Committee has interviewed three applicants during the past few weeks, and conducted a second interview with the finalist. Six applications were submitted for the position.
If the board agrees with the chosen finalist Tuesday night, they will authorize Clanton to negotiate a contract with that person.
Clanton hopes to have a new person in the leadership position by the end of the year.
The need for a new director is the result of the resignation of Deborah Guimont who left to fill a similar position in southern Maine in July. Retired education administrator Harvey Hayden has filled in on an interim basis since August, and will likely stay on as a consultant during the transition.
Also on the agenda is an update on the school’s plans to replace the roof, make Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations at the building, and possibly build an addition.
Other agenda items include action on updated student and staff handbooks, reports from the school’s self-study committee, adult education program, and student services and on several conferences.
