MAYNARD, Mass. – Janet Marie (Poulson) Waluck, 81, died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov 10, at the home of her daughter with her family at her side.

She was the wife of Chester S. Waluck who died March 1990. They were married for 47 years.

Born June 26, 1923, in Fitchburg Mass., she was the daughter of the late Nellie (Booth) and Paul Poulson and lived in Maynard until moving to Rochester, NH, in 1987. She recently returned to Maynard to be with her daughter and family.

She was a 1941 graduate of Maynard High School and continued her education in Boston at The Fannie Farmer Cooking School and the Wilson Cake Decorating School.

She worked at the family business, Paul’s Food Shoppe in Maynard as a talented cake decorator, delighting her customers with beautiful birthday and wedding cakes until retiring in 1985. She moved with her husband to Rochester, NH, in 1987, to enjoy their retirement years. She was an active member of the Board of Directors of the Homemakers of Strafford County and auxiliary for several years.

She spent summers at Dummer’s Beach campground in Weld, for the past 49 years and was a member of the Webb Lake Association and the Historical Society. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her circle of friends.

She leaves her daughter, Brigit Anne Sokolowski and her husband, Ed, and granddaughter, Nichole Sokolowski, all of Maynard; her brother, Albert Poulson, of Stow, Mass.; a sister, Betty Campbell, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren on the west coast.

She was the mother of the late C. Douglas Waluck, who died in 1984 while serving in the U.S. Navy.
