LEWISTON – Mayor Lionel Guay will use an inspirational music video to recognize Twin Cities families with relatives serving in Iraq.

Recording artist Mark Schultz’s music video “Letters from War” will be the backdrop for a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Lewiston City Council chambers. Lewiston-Auburn families with relatives currently serving are invited.

The reception will feature presentation from a local honor guard, patriotic songs and a presentation by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Lewiston resident Jeanne Raymond will also be featured, reading a letter she received from her grandson, Lance Cpl. Derek Richardson. He is currently serving in Fallujah.

The reception culminates in the showing of Schultz’s video, which is also being used in a Army program called “Be Safe – Make it Home.”

“Mayor Guay wanted to use the opportunity to recognize local families and to encourage them to keep sending letters,” said Dot Perham-Wittier, city community relations coordinator. “It’s a good way to just remind local families that they are in our thoughts.”
