LEWISTON – Robert E. Hodgkin, 84, of Halstead Terrace, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, at d’Youville Pavilion, Lewiston, after a short illness, with his wife by his side.

Born in Auburn, July 20, 1920, the son of Dana and Beatrice (Callahan) Hodgkin, he attended local schools.

“Bob” proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Cushman Shoe and Supreme Slipper as a shop foreman.

He retired in 2002 from J.C. Penney, Auburn after a 16-year career in the maintenance department.

He was an avid golfer and gardener. He was a former member of the Prospect Hill Golf Course and American Legion Lewiston.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Bertrande Hodgkin, of Lewiston; daughters, Elaine Carper and her husband, James, of Vermont, Sharon Hodgkin, of Lewiston and Deborah True, of Lewiston; son, Michael Hodgkin, of Lewiston; sisters, Juanita Steosser, of New York, Betty Johnson, of Auburn, Jane Whalen, of Auburn and Laura Young, of New Gloucester; brother, Eddie Hodgkin, of Auburn; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased his parents, and sister, Ruth Polley.
