LEWISTON – City leaders will hold a news conference today to announce temporary plans to run the Colisee in the absence of General Manager Wayne Thornton, who resigned on Tuesday.
Lewiston City Councilor Normand Rousseau, chairman of the Colisee Board of Directors, announced that plans will be revealed at a 2:15 p.m. meeting in council chambers.
Thornton abruptly resigned Tuesday afternoon, citing personal reasons. After the resignation was announced, City Administrator Jim Bennett said he had a plan to manage the ice arena without Thornton.
Details about the interim plan to run the ice arena will be discussed at today’s conference, according to a press release distributed Wednesday night.
Bennett has said little about the plan, other than to emphasize that Assistant City Administrator Phil Nadeau will not take over for Thornton.
The public is invited to the meeting on the lower floor of the city building at 27 Pine St.
