The proposed move of the Montreal Expos to Washington is set to be approved when baseball owners meet today in Chicago.

Selig announced the intended move of the Expos on Sept. 29, but the agreement was subject to ratification by baseball owners and the District of Columbia government putting funding in place for a new ballpark.

While the agreement estimates the ballpark cost at $435 million, some District of Columbia Council members have claimed it would be far higher, perhaps $600 million or more. Council Chair Linda Cropp postponed a Nov. 9 vote on the deal, saying the District should seek private financing.

Closer Percival inks 2-year deal with Tigers

DETROIT – Free agent Troy Percival and Detroit agreed on a $12 million, two-year contract, giving the Tigers two closers for their bullpen. Percival, 35, was 2-3 with a 2.90 ERA and 33 saves last season with the Anaheim Angels, who made no attempt to re-sign him. He was fourth in the AL in saves, reaching 30 for the seventh straight season.
