LEWISTON – American Legion Auxiliary Second District President Edith Lemieux announces that Department of Maine Auxiliary Leadership Chairwoman Mary Ellen Field has canceled the report-writing workshop to have been held in Trenton on Sunday, Nov. 21. A new date will be announced. The workshop helps the units with leadership and communication of auxiliary activities.

Worship service

PARIS – Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the worship service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, on Sunday, Nov. 21. The sermon topic will be “The Remnants.”

The service will begin at 10 a.m. with the organ voluntaries beginning at 9:50. The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. The Sunday school will be in session under the direction of Rene Wales.

Child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow at Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.

Heritage meeting

WEST PARIS – The Finnish American Heritage Society will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Heritage Center, Maple Street. Christmas plans will be discussed and several members will do their interpretations of a well known Finnish song. A coffee social will follow. All are welcome.

Missions services

PARIS – The South Paris Baptist Church will host its annual Missions Conference on Friday through Sunday, Nov. 19 to 21.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Dave Shaw will give an update of the ministries of two Brazilian pastors whom the church supports. David Knightly will present “Third-Culture Kids,” children of missionaries.

A supper will be served at 6 p.m. Saturday followed by a 7 p.m. meeting when John Decoster, missionary to Mexico, will speak. Child Evangelism Fellowship local representative Virginia Mattieu will give an update.

Decoster will speak at the 10:45 a.m. service on Sunday. A child sponsorship program in Haiti will also be explained. The 6 p.m. service will feature Jason Strout, seeking support to return to Argentina as a missionary.

Doug Twichell, the church youth director, will share a project in Moldova for which the group is raising funds.

The public is invited to attend the services.
