NORWAY – Charles Wilson Hill Sr., 86, died shortly after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Market Square Health Care Center, South Paris, after a short illness.

“Charlie” was born in Norway on June 27, 1918, the son of George and Florence Hill. He graduated at Norway High.

On Jan. 1, 1938, he married Mildred Etta Allen of Weare, N.H., who died March 20, 1987 in Norway.

They had five sons, four daughters, 12 grandsons, 16 granddaughters, 25 great-grandsons, 19 great-grand daughters, and one great-great-grandson.

He worked at Francine Shoe Company, Norway, and Paris Manufacturing Company in South Paris, until retirement in 1986.

Mr. Hill was the seventh son of the seventh son of Albion Lewis Hill whose wife, Deborah Franklin Holden, was a ninth direct descendant of Mary Chilton who came over on the Mayflower and was the first woman to land at Plymouth Rock.

He is survived by his sons, Charlie W. Hill Jr. and wife, Marie, of Oxford, Clifford W. and wife, Yvonne, of Summer, Churchill W. and wife, Roxie, of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Clarence W. and wife, Melanie, of Summer; daughters, Marjorie E. Pickle, of Unionville, Pa., Mona E. Hill, of Oxford, Marie E. Struven and husband, Douglas, of Fryeburg, and Mildred E. Naylor, of Wells; and two sisters, Rachel Maloon, of Norway, and Rebecca Twohig, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Mildred, on March 20, 1987; a son, Carl W., of Brighton; two grand-sons; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
