BRIDGTON – Three workshops to help people dealing with grief during the holidays will be held in November and December at the Bridgton Community Center. They are free.
The schedule is:
Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., “The Grief Process and Grief vs. Depression.”
Thursday, Dec. 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., “Grief During the Holidays.”
Wednesday, Dec. 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., “General Support for Grief During the Holidays.”
Twelve local people, led by Joan Korb of Bridgton, wanted to make grief and bereavement support services available in the Lakes Region so they contacted Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, asking for training and professional guidance. The bereavement coordinator from AHCH taught an intensive 24-hour course over seven weeks. It prepared the 12 to function as trained bereavement support volunteers. Some will offer individual support while others will facilitate peer support/discussion groups.
It is not necessary to attend all three meetings. For additional information phone BJ Cavicchi at 647-2752, or Terry Cronin at AHCH, 777-7740.
