FARMINGTON – A recount of House District 89 votes Thursday determined that Janet Mills will retain her seat for another term.

Democratic incumbent Mills received 2,329 votes while her challenger, Republican Lance Harvell, received 2,264, according to Deputy Secretary of State Doug Dunbar of the Division of Elections.

Mills received 2,105 votes in Farmington compared to Harvell’s 1,986. Harvell took the election in Industry 278 to 224. Though there was a slight change in the towns’ counts, Mills won with the same 65 vote margin she had immediately after the election.

Harvell said Thursday that he learned a lot.

“It was enjoyable and I wish Janet the best,” he said.

“I had every confidence that the vote wouldn’t change,” said Mills on Thursday.
