BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) – A suicide car bomber rammed into a police patrol in Baghdad on Friday, killing one policeman, police and hospital officials said.

The attack in the eastern Zayouna neighborhood injured at least four others, including two policemen, said officials at Kindi Hospital.

Witnesses said the suicide car bomber drove into two police cars before setting off the blast. Four civilian cars also were damaged in the explosion.

Smashed window glass and debris were strewn over the asphalt as dozens of policemen from a nearby station gathered around the charred carcass of the car.

Iraqi security forces are frequent targets of insurgents, who have killed hundreds of police and soldiers in the past year in Iraq.

On Nov. 10, a car bomb targeting police exploded in the same neighborhood, killed at least 10 people and injured 15 others.
