LEWISTON – Leo J. Levesque, 85, formerly of 148 Old Webster Rd., died at Russell Park Manor on Sunday, Nov. 21, shortly after 3 a.m., after a long illness.

He was born in Auburn on Aug. 29, 1919, a son of Joseph and Zarmaie Blanchette Levesque.

He was brought up and attended schools in Auburn.

On July 4, 1942, he married Viola Shaw of Island Falls. They were devoted to each other for 49 years until her death in 1991.

He was employed in the local shoe industry in various shoe shops. He also worked for many years at Bushey’s Mobil on the corner of Lisbon and Canal Streets, where he made many long-lasting friendships. He also worked for many years at L & A United Grocers until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church.

Pappy, we miss your smile and constant jokes. Though at times you were in pain, you never showed it. May you and Nana be reunited at last and rest in peace together forever.

Leo and Viola had two children who survive; a daughter, Sheron and husband, Larry Lessard, and Tony and wife, Del Levesque, all of Lewiston; also three grandchildren who he was so proud of, Julie A. Levesque, of West Springfield, Mass., Jennie A. Lwenyaga and husband, Alex, of Maynard, Mass., and Jay D. Levesque and his girlfriend, Leslie Lavoie, of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews and their children. He also leaves his many friends, especially the coffee bunch at Tim Hortons.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Juliette Pratt, Edith St. Laurent Bousquet, and Liane Audette; three brothers, Rene, Wilfred, and Lucien.
