LEWISTON – Ruth Marguerite York, 82, of Canton, died Saturday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1922, in Canton, a daughter of Christopher and Eva (Rundlett) Allanach Sr.

A lifelong resident of Canton, she attended Canton schools and worked as a clerk at the local markets and stores in Canton.

On May 1, 1939, she married Hollis York in Canton.

Mrs. York was a member of the Past Noble Grand and a former member of the Rebekahs.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty York, of Canton; a son, Herschel York and his wife, Lenora, of Peru; five grandchildren, Jayson Esty and his wife, Andrea, of Pennsylvania, Heather Lobozzo and her husband, David, of New Gloucester, Christopher Moore and friend, Julie Kilmer, of Canton, Melissa Strout, of Canton, and Debbie Bedard and her husband, Stacy, of Manchester; thirteen grandchildren, John Paul, Molly, Roux, Rita, Elizabeth, George and Samuel Lobozzo, Erin and Craig Esty, Hannah, Susie, and Samantha Strout, and Wyatt Moore; sisters, Edith LeBlanc, of Livermore Falls, Jean Carlton and her husband, Earle, of Florida, Joyce Carlton and her husband, Robert, of Canton, and Janice Lowe and her husband, Clifford, of West Sumner; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Hollis; a daughter, Rita Esty; brothers, Harry, Norman, and Christopher Jr.; sisters, Arlene, Rita and Gladys.
