WILTON – An officer on routine patrol noticed lights flashing on an alarm at the Head Start building in East Wilton last week and checked it out.

Interim Police Chief Ed Leahy said that the building on Church Street had no smoke nor any other signs of fire.

Fire Chief Sonny Dunham and Fire Lt. Kyle Ellis also responded to assist Leahy.

No one with a key was available, Leahy said, but they were able to get into the building.

The floor was covered with water because someone had left the faucets on in a bathroom after a water main break on Main Street near Mill Street.

Two of the three sinks were overflowing, Leahy said.

If it hadn’t been discovered, Leahy said, the sinks would have kept overflowing until Head Start re-opened.
