JAY – A Naples man was charged early Wednesday after he left the scene of an accident.

Michael Shaw, 37, was charged with failing to report an accident by the quickest means and imprudent speed, Police Chief Larry White Sr. said.

Shaw’s vehicle received extensive damage after it left Crash Road around midnight, White said.

Shaw got an individual at a residence on Crash Road to give him a ride to Livermore, White said.

People at a residence on Crash Road reported the accident to police, who were able to track where Shaw had gone.

“Speed was a factor” in the accident, White said.
