LEWISTON – Christine J. Therrien, 79, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 24, at D’Youville Pavilion following a long illness, with her family by her side. She had previously lived at 85 Ste. Croix St. in Lewiston.
She was born in Lille, near Van Buren, on July 17, 1925, the daughter of Xavier P. and Edith (Levasseur) Thibodeau. She resided in this community the majority of her life.
She was employed at the South Portland shipyard during WWII, as a shoe worker and General Electric until her retirement in 1989.
She was a former parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and later Holy Cross Parish. She was married to Roger L. Therrien on July 26, 1947 and he died on Oct. 3, 1992.
She loved to cook and was always willing to help out her family. She loved and enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Bertrand (Bert) Therrien and wife, Odette of Lewiston and Normand (Norm) Therrien and wife, Linda of Auburn; one daughter, Janice Clark and husband, Jim of Hampden; five granddaughters, Mrs. David (Annette) Varndel of Frederick, Md., Mrs. Claude (Michelle) Cloutier of Greene, Ms. Kimberly Therrien of Petersburg, Va., Ms. Melinda Longtin of Hampden and Ms. Nichole Therrien of Auburn; two grandsons, Tad Longtin of Hampden and Jason Therrien of Auburn; six great grandchildren, Brandon and Kevin Varndel of Frederick, Md., Averie and Cameron Cloutier of Greene and Cooper and Jasmine Longtin of Hampden; numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters, Mrs. Edmond H. (Sylvia) Parent and Mrs. Clement (Bernice) Gauthier, both of Lewiston and Mrs. Kenneth D. (O’Maureen) Case of Syracuse, NY and one brother, Mr. Alphee Thibodeau of Lewiston.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Mrs. Cecile Deschaine of Grand Isle, Mrs. Leona Beaulieu of Lewiston and Mrs. Estelle Cote of Lewiston and one brother Mr. Armand Thibodeau of Auburn.
