RUMFORD – A Rumford man was indicted Friday on charges of residential and business burglaries, thefts and vandalism.
An Oxford County grand jury indicted Phillip-Guy Marquis Smith Jr., 18, on two counts each of burglary, theft and criminal mischief stemming from Aug. 10 incidents at two different residences.
He was indicted a second time on one count each of burglary, theft and criminal mischief stemming from a July 17 incident at Irving Mainway, a gas station and convenience store on Main Street.
According to the first indictment, Smith allegedly damaged a door to enter a Summit Street home on Aug. 10, where he reportedly stole a camera and prescription medications.
That same day, the indictment states, Smith allegedly damaged or destroyed a door while breaking into a Brown Street residence, where he reportedly stole cash and a safe, then either damaged or destroyed the safe.
In the July 17 incident, the indictment states that Smith allegedly damaged a door to enter the Irving store, and stole cash, credit card receipts, checks and two bank bags.
