BRIDGTON – The public is invited to participate in a two-mile walk, called Trot Off Your Turkey, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, in Bridgton and Fryeburg.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St., and at the Molly Ockett Middle School in Fryeburg.

The walks will be happening simultaneously. Maps of both walking routes will be available at both sites for future use.

Participants are asked to dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes. The first 50 participants to register at each site will be eligible for prizes after the walk.

Sue McNamara, school health coordinator for SAD 55, said, “A two-mile walk is a great start to a zero-weight-gain holiday season.”

In the event of sleet, the walk will be held Sunday, Dec. 14.

The Trot Off Your Turkey event is funded by the local Healthy Maine Partnership at the Bridgton Community Center.

More outdoor and indoor walks are being planned throughout the region.

More information may be obtained by sending e-mail to Dona Forke at [email protected], or by calling the Bridgton Community Center at 647-3114.
