BOSTON – Rob Stockwell poured in a game-high 23 points and hauled down seven rebounds to lead Bates College to its fifth straight win with a 93-70 triumph Saturday over UMass-Boston.
Elliott Linsley added 22 points while Brian Gerrity and Zak Ray scored 19 and 12 points, respectively. The Bobcats (5-0) built a 54-37 lead at the intermission.
The Beacons (2-3) were led by Tony Barros with 19 points, including five 3-pointers.
USM 77, Husson 68
GORHAM – Jason Levecque paced Southern Maine with 21 points on a 9-for-16 effort from the floor as the Huskies defeated Husson 77-68.
Senior guard Mike Francoeur netted 17 points, while Bill Hardwick added 12 points, and Josh Daniels and Jesse McKinnell had 10 points apiece.
Tyler Munzy led the Braves (0-2) with a game-high 24 points. Jeff and Phill White chipped in with 13 and 11 points.

Maine 54, St. Joseph’s 36
ORONO – The University of Maine sailed to a 54-36 win over St. Joseph’s of Philadelphia in the championship game of the Dead River Classic.
The Black Bears (2-3) were powered by Missy Traversi with 16 points, while Kim Corbitt contributed 12 points and Bracey Barker chipped in with 11 tallies. Ashley Underwood had one field goal and went 4-of-4 from the line to add seven points from the bench.

Colby 11, Salve Regina 0
BRUNSWICK – Jared Gordon scored the first of his two goals in the opening two minutes to send Colby to an 11-0 rout over Salve Regina in the Bowdoin-Colby Faceoff Classic.
Jason Weigel also scored a pair of goals in the lopsided win. Ken Pitter made 14 saves to register the shutout.
National Team 5, Bowdoin 1
BRUNSWICK – The United States Under-18 National Team scored the first three goals and coasted to a 5-1 victory over Bowdoin.
The Polar Bears cut into the lead early in the second period when Joe Gardner redirected a shot in front of the net to make it 3-1 at the 4:52 mark.
Bowdoin dominating the pace of play early in the third quarter, taking nine of the first 10 shots of the frame, but could not beat the USA goalie.
George Papachristopoulos made 13 saves for the Polar Bears, while Billy Blase made 23 saves for Team USA.
USM 6, J. & Wales 6
GORHAM – Brett Kapteina scored his first collegiate goal midway through the third period to help Southern Maine rally for a 6-6 tie against Johnson & Wales.
Kapteina’s tying goal came off a shot along the goal line that tucked into the top corner of the far side at the 8:01 mark of the final frame.
Erik Kent scored a pair of goals for the Huskies (1-2-1).
Maine 0, Dartmouth 0
HANOVER, N.H. – Jimmy Howard stopped 33 shots, including three in overtime, to help Maine escape with a 0-0 tie with Dartmouth.
The Big Green (4-4-1) limited Maine (9-6-1) to 22 shots.
