BUCKFIELD – Sunday, Dec. 12, is National Children’s Memorial Day, and the Compassionate Friends will hold the annual worldwide candlelighting ceremony. The local chapter will have a service at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Buckfield Community Church, Turner Street.

Families grieving the loss of a child of any age are welcome to attend and bring a photo of the child for the memory table. Coffee and refreshments will be available after the ceremony.

The mission of Compassionate Friends is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive.

It is a national nonprofit, self-help support organization that offers friendship, understanding, and hope to bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings.
