PARIS – Tickets are going fast for this year’s Christmas for Teens Benefit Concert, set for Friday, Dec. 3, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., brings together a wide variety of singing groups and choirs, dancers and drama students, to create a musical event full of songs about the true meaning of Christmas.
Proceeds from the concert, which costs $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, are used to buy Christmas presents for around 140 needy teenagers who are also full-time students.
Last year’s concert, which raised $3,200, was a sell-out, and this year’s concert is also expected to be sold out, said high school Music Teacher Cynthia Wescott.
“It’s going to be terrific,” she said, with choirs participating from both the community and SAD 17.
The concert features a benefit choir of more than 50 people who will sing several Christmas medleys. Also singing will be the Mollyocket Chorus, a division of the Sweet Adelines, the Hillsmen Barbershop Chorus, choirs from the high school, Oxford Hills Middle School and elementary schools in SAD 17.
The Maurice Dance Theater will also perform, as will a high school drama class led by teacher Sally Jones and Jen St. Pierre, a former high school student.
Tickets are available from the high school music department, Books n Things in Oxford, or at the door.
