RUMFORD – Rumford Fire Department annual complimentary Christmas tree spraying will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 24, at the fire station.

Fire safety and holiday safety brochures are available.

People may also donate a toy to benefit Santa’s Helpers. The event is sponsored by Rumford Professional Firefighters Local 1601.

Lunch and Learn Seminar set

RUMFORD – The next Business Lunch and Learn Seminar will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the River Valley Technology Center on 60 Lowell St. The cost is $8 and includes lunch. The topic will be “Patent Searching and Patent Protection” by Woody Higgins, founding director of the Maine Patent Program. This seminar will provide inventors and technology-based businesses with education and advice on the basics of patent rights and protections.
