As a member of the Farwell School faculty, I am writing in support of the referendum on the proposed new Farwell School (in Lewiston). For more than 50 years, Farwell School has served the children and families of the community well. It has had a long-standing reputation as one of the best schools in the city.

Presently, the staff, parents and teachers continue to work together to provide a quality education for all students.

At the same time, we have outgrown the physical space and technological infrastructure built for a student population in the 1950s.

The proposed building project includes innovations that will make it a key addition to the neighborhood. It is essential that we continue to provide the best learning environment possible to ensure the success of all children. A “yes” vote is necessary to meet the needs of today’s children, as well as those of the students and families in the future. The Farwell School referendum is Dec. 7.
