PARIS – Bernice Gladys Brown, 81, of Bethel, died at Market Square Health Care Thursday, Dec. 2.
She was born in Greenwood on June 11, 1923, the daughter of Orlando E. and Gladys Dunham Jordan. She was educated in Bethel schools, and graduated from Gould Academy in 1941.
She had worked at J.J. Newbury while going to school, and later at E.L. Tebbets Spool Co., the Bethel Inn, and as a housekeeper for Mrs. Mann.
She enjoyed flowers and was very particular as to how her grounds and house were maintained.
She is survived by two brothers, Orlando Richard Jordan and his wife, Nathalie, of Wilton, and Arnold Eugene Jordan and his wife, Pearl, of Greenwood; one sister, Beatrice Elaine Buck of Bethel; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Jordan, of Waterford, a special sister-in-law, Elsie Fortin, and her husband, Robert, of Hanover; a brother-in-law, Charlie Brown and his wife, Lila, of Moses Lake, Wa., and brother-in-law, Gordon Brown, and his wife, Beverly, of Bryant Pond; and 13 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Elwin W. Brown Jr., on Jan. 4, 2001; and one brother, Reynold Jordan, on Aug. 11, 2003.
