• Dec. 2 – A South Rumford Road resident reported that high winds had felled a tree across the road near his home. A responding officer reported that the tree was blocking one travel lane until someone came along with a cherry picker truck and lifted the tree off the road. A Maine Department of Transportation crew also helped clear the debris.
• Dec. 1, 8:22 p.m. – A Muskie Building resident reported finding a hole in a lobby wall at the Congress Street apartment complex. An investigating officer determined that the hole was fist-sized. A damage estimate was not yet available.
• Dec. 1, 4:30 p.m. – A Mexico resident reported the theft of four compact discs from his unlocked car, which was parked at Mountain Valley High School on Hancock Street. The theft of the estimated $60 worth of discs was believed to have occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
• Dec. 1, 4:15 p.m. – Mary Fitzgerald, 37, of Rumford, was uninjured after losing control of and crashing her 1999 Mitsubishi due to icy road conditions on Wyman Hill Road. The car sustained an estimated $1,000 damage.
• Nov. 30, 4:15 p.m. – A car-deer collision on Route 5 caused an estimated $1,400 in damage to a 1996 Mercury Mystique driven by Laura Sherry, 43, of Andover. The deer was killed on impact.
• Nov. 30 – A Kerr Street resident reported that water runoff had iced a portion of Sawdust Avenue in the Virginia section of Rumford, causing a driver to lose control of a vehicle and slide into his lawn. Damage was estimated at $50.
• Nov. 30, 4:14 p.m. – A South Rumford Road resident reported seeing a raccoon acting strangely near his residence. On investigating, Sgt. George Cayer killed the animal. It was not known if the animal was tested for rabies.
Arrests
• Corey Duguay, 33, of Hillsboro, Ohio, on a charge of operating without a license, at about 8:20 a.m. on Dec. 2 on Route 2. He was released on $50 cash bail. He is to be arraigned on Feb. 1 in Rumford District Court.
