PARIS – An 81-year-old Minot woman died Friday, two weeks after the car she was riding in crashed into the Tangles hair salon at Market Square.
The state Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Tuesday that Florence H. Watson died of complications from injuries she received Nov. 12 when she was a front-seat passenger in a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity driven by Daphne Burns, 74, of Oxford.
Burns hit a car parked next to her while backing out of a parking space, Paris police Sgt. Michael Dailey said. When she tried to pull back into the space, she hit the gas instead of the brake and crashed into the building, damaging the window and trim.
Watson and Burns were taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
Burns was treated and released, but Watson was transferred to Maine Medical Center for further treatment, Dailey said.
Dailey said Watson then went to a nursing home in Auburn for a week or so, but was taken back to a hospital before she died.
He did not know the nature of her injuries.
The Medical Examiner’s Office is involved in cases where someone dies within 30 days of being involved in a motor vehicle accident, Dailey said.
