LEWISTON – Francis L. Chamberlain, 83, of Sumner, died Thursday, Dec. 2, at Central Maine Medical Center with his caregiver, Steven Elsman, by his side.

He was born in Buckfield on May 6, 1921, the son of Liddie Chamberlain. He was raised by his mother and grandfather, David Chamberlain. He attended schools in Sumner, Hartford and Canton.

He had been employed at Penley Mill and the Oxford Paper Mill. He also harvested wood from his own land and worked for the Town Cedar Program.

He was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Dixfield and attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Woodstock.

He loved his flowers, fruit trees, and visiting with his many friends.

He married Ida B. Pease, who passed away on July 28, 1994.

He is survived by several cousins.
